Janine's Story

Life After graduation I got a job with Summit Bank. I was there for 10 yrs and during that time started as a clerk and worked my way up to Branch Manager & Officer of the bank. In NJ, back in 1996, I had to endure the Blizzard of '96' and that was the turning point. I declared that was the last blizzard I would have to suffer through. I made the decision to move to FL and did just that in 1997, leaving the majority of my family & all of my friends behind. I moved to FL into a descent size 1 bdrm apt, which was about 5 miles from my sister and her 2 children. I got a job at a debit transaction processor. Over time I progressed to a Sr Pjt Mgr over all Visa & MC Compliance/Mandates/Regulations. After 6 yrs I decided to move on. I then went to a position as a Director of Computer Security/Pjt/Compliance for another debit/pre-paid transaction processor. That job was about 32 miles away from home. In 2007, I took a new position for a credit transaction processor. I will continue on in my field of Bankcard Visa & MC Compliance. They offered me a wonderful benefits package. In 2009, I bought a home. I got it as a short sale and the whole process took over 5 months, crazy!!! But, I did eventually get the home I wanted for the price I wanted. Now, the drive to work distance wise is not that much closer, but time wise takes alot less as there are back roads with hardly any traffic. I love it! Family: In 1999, I lost my father. That was the most trying time in my life......In 2000, my mother moved to FL too and then in 2001 my grandmother moved to town. So, now I have more family around me here. I still have one sister in NJ with her husband and 2 children. To date, I have never been married and have no children of my own. But, I have a lot of nieces, nephews, god-children, etc. I love them so much they may as well be mine. That is actually how I refer to them, as 'my children'! I have so much fun playing with them. I love to watch their faces when they experience something for the first time, when they achieve something they were striving for, when they laugh so hard it hurts or just when I walk in the room and they drop what they are doing just to run up into my arms. THEY ARE THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE! I am so grateful for them. I have remained friends with a handful of people from NJ over the years. Danielle (Cusack) Willis has been the best friend I could have ever asked to have stand by my side throughout life. I truly love and respect the manner in which we treat our friendship. We may not be biological sisters, but she is my sister in my heart. Well, I have to say life is good in the sunshine state. I love the sun on my face. Something about the feeling brings a sensation of renewel, cleansing, etc. Although, the hurricanes and tornadoes I can do without. But, we all have to deal with something. That's it for me for now. I hope you are all doing well and have found much peace, health, wealth and happiness in your lives. Take care and hope to talk to you or see you some day. Make it a happy day, :-) Janine School I started my schooling in Hillside, NJ. I went to Saybrook Elementary until 2nd grade. I would say that Mrs. Welsh was the teacher I remember from back then. She was the wife of the town mayor and was very hard on the students. Basically, we feared her. I then graduated onto A. P. Morris school also located in Hillside, NJ. I went there until 7th grade. Mrs. Kessler was my 5th grade teacher and I remember her because she always pointed to things on the board with her middle finger and with her temperment I am not sure that was really a mistake, but probably purposeful. On a more pleasant note, Ms. Valerie (?; not sure of her last name as she...Expand for more
got married and I used to call her Valerie) was a good friend to me. I think of her once in awhile and hope she is well. My parents then got divorced and we moved to Union, NJ. I then entered into Burnet Jr. High school. In my first month there this girl, Robin Santoro, and her friends surrounded me at my locker after school one day. She said she was going to beat me up because I was fooling around with her boyfriend (Don Dinorsio; sp?). I didn't even know him. Well, my sister spoke to Robin and her boyfriend said he had never even met me. Apparently, it was another girl. Time had passed and eventually Robin appologized for her behavior. Then, there was a girl named Isiah (sp?) Curry who just didn't like me, even though she didn't know me. She would knock my books to the floor as we walked through the hallways or come up behind me and punch me in the back or pull my hair. I just went about my business and never responded to her behavior as I didn't feel it was worth it. Needless-to-say, by the 9th grade she came to me and apologized for how she treated me and didn't know why she did it but that she was thankful for having known me. I ran into Isiah about 6 or 7 years after high school and she again recalled her behavior and apologized. I truly hope both Robin and Isiah are doing well in their lives. Again, on a better note, this is when I met Danielle Cusack, Barbara Blicharz and Beth Kleiman. Beth and I don't keep in touch that often. We send holiday cards, which allows me to see how wonderfully her beautiful girls are growing. Barbara and I write to each other 2 or 3 times a year to catch up with our families. We both love our nieces and nephews like crazy and share our pictures. Danielle has turned out to be the best friend I could have ask for in life. I am truly grateful for our friendship and I am god-mother to one of her daughters. Danielle is like a sister to me. Well, it was onto Union High School. The teacher who inspired me most was Ms. Kathy Schultz, english. We just clicked and got along really well. I loved my drafting/drawing/architecture classes the most. I didn't have any crushes that I recall, just an on-off again boyfriend and that was enough for me. I always worked during my high school days/years. Ok, onto college! College I went to Union County College to become a CPA. I met another student that was an art major, named Rich. He came to me and asked if I would be his subject for a portrait assignment he had to turn in, I said absolutely! The picture was beautiful and I still have it hanging in my home to this day. I hope he went on to find much success with this art abilities. I didn't stay in college for even a whole year since I was so tired from always working and going to school. So, I stopped the schooling and just kept working. ....and so life continues on!
