Jason's Story
After graduating high school in Tulsa OK, I went to Rogers State University in Claremore OK to become a paramedic and instructor. After working on a Y2K project in '98-'99, I moved to Washington DC in 2000 to shift my career to healthcare IT. Continuing to teach CPR, and working for SAIC and NASDAQ in IT jobs, I decided I.T. was the way to go. After a layoff in '01, I moved briefly to Kansas City to work at Cerner, then Northampton MA for 4 years implementing an IT system at a hospital. In '06, I went into consulting, traveling to Chicago for 2 years, then to Dallas for another 2 years. During that time, I met my partner, Ting, in Nashville TN, and soon bought my first condo in 2006. In 2009 I left consulting, then Ting and I formed a company to implement computer systems in doctor's offices. We grew the company to more than 300 customers in 22 states, and oversaw 80+ employees. I'm happily back in consulting now, both health IT, and business management / capital development. I'm also taking time off to do all the things I promised myself I'd do if only I had the money and time. In May 2015, I finally finished my undergrad degree through Champlain College (Burlington VT), and now working to get my private pilot license.
After 9 years, Ting and I are together living in Nashville TN. We've had a family of seven Shar Pei's (all passed on), and now living with one very ornery yet loyal English Bulldog (Betty) and a quiet Chihuahua mutt (Bongo).
I routinely travel to Chicago, and I'm back to Lake Charles / Houston a about four times a year, but I've not been back to Tulsa since '01 (I'd like to see how things have changed since then). My hobbies include running a lot, traveling, and flying airplanes.
Sadly, I've not kept in touch with any classmates from high school. But, if you knew me, drop me a line! I'd love to reminisce about things from 20 years ago, even though it hardly seems that long ago. After looking at the profiles, we've all come a long way since band practice, grunge rock, and Bill Clinton!
