Jason's Story

Life I Graduated from the USAF Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1999 with a B.S. in Human Factors Engineering, spent 6 months in Tucson, AZ with an A-10 fighter squadron. That was fun, I sometimes wished I had gone to University of Arizona. In March '01 I moved to Del Rio, TX to begin Undergraduate Pilot Training. It's probably the toughest thing I've ever done, but it was a great challenge and unbelievably fun. Check that, getting married and divorced was the hardest thing I've ever done. Spent 3 years in Japan, now fly the mighty C-130 Hercules out of Dyess AFB, Abilene TX. These days, I'm enjoying being back in the states and having American food. Planning a trip to Eastern Europe sometime in the next year....after some of the people I met in Tokyo, they really made me want to see places like Estonia, Czech Rep, and Slovakia. From 04-07 I flew combat missions into Iraq and Afghanistan. Scariest and most rewarding flying I could imagine. Abilene was great for proximity to home and Austin, but driving every weekend is tiring. I got picked up for an exchange assignment to Spain. I can not wait to get to Europe! In Monterey learning Spanish now, love it here. If you really want to catch up with me...go here.... myspace (dot) com/lair_of_thedsp School The teacher who undeniably inspired me the most was Mr. D. Sadly, I saw on the news that Mr. D. passed away in 2001. I don't think I've ever met a person who had such passion for life and passing on his love to all his students. Most embarassing and fun...showing up to a toga party w...Expand for more
ith Matt Heine and John Archer, only to find out it wasn't really a toga party. College USAFA, Class of 1999. I work with all my classmates... All I have to say here is that my friends from here are priceless... Chico, Pete, Kirk, Josh, Ron, Stuckey.....everybody is jumping ship right now, who'd have thought I'd be one of the last out...amazing. Workplace (myspace com/lair_of_thedsp) Military Went to the US Air Force Academy, from 95-99. Learned to fly gliders summer of 96. Also had combat survival training that summer. Took basic freefall summer of 98, and earned my jumpwings. Grad'd with a BS in Human Factors Engineering, '99. Spent the next month earning my private pilot's license in Co. Springs as a 2Lt. Spent 6 months at Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, as an A-10 scheduler. Started Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB, Del Rio TX, Mar 00. Grad'd Apr 01, and trained at DFW and Keesler AFB, Biloxi MS on the Learjet 35, C-21. Flew C-21's out of Yokota AB, Tokyo, Japan from Jul 01 - Apr 04, finished as an Instructor Pilot. Can not begin to tell anyone how much I loved Japan!! I travelled to Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Australia, Hawaii and half the islands in the Pacific. Learned to fly the C-130 at Little Rock AFB the summer of 04, and then moved to Abilene the following fall where I bought my first house. Done with Iraq and Afghanistan...well, maybe not Afghanistan. I'm moving to Spain for an exchange tour with the Spanish AF. Currently taking Spanish at the Defense Language Institute...a full time student again, Dios mio!
