Jean's Story

Life I am still living in Oregon, now in Jerusalem Township on the corner of Cousino and Seaman. You can check me out on myspace, under jean vrahoiyes. After graduating from Clay I had many jobs, from factory worker (made Domino pizza boxes and coffin boxes), to owning my own business. I loosened up a bit and ran wild for about 9 years after graduation, living life to the fullest. I wore my share of the black leather pants and chains on my boots while riding those Harleys, ventured a tiny bit in the drug scene but became bored with those after a bit, (helmits messed up my hair and were too hot and drugs were not cool at all)!!I loved the bar scene though and drinking "Busch" beer and dancing. Anyone remember Katos on the eastside or the Gigalo on central for the all night jams? What about the Onion (in Freeway plaza) or Popoffs, Lee's Tap room, and the Beer Barrel (those were a little tamer)? The Turtle Club in Point Place was a cool spot. Memories.... how fun !!! Most of my friends were married and had kids and after being around them I decided that was not the lifestyle for me (at least not right at that point in my life). I decided to take up bowling and met my first husband at the age of 29! We got married, bought a trailer on Alexis Rd and settled into married life. Then tragedy, after only 9 monthes of marriage, he was killed in an auto accident. I was now single again and living where I knew no one so I moved back to Oregon . I had been working third shift at Little Sisters of the Poor as a nurses aide and loved it. But could not live on $4-5.00 an hour and figured I could do something more and decided to become a registered nurse. I started Owens Tech in the spring of 1979 and finally graduated in the spring of 1986!! It took me forever as you can tell. During those "school years" I got married again (in 1982) and had a baby boy. I had to...Expand for more
work two jobs but finally made it thru school. I also became very interested in Psychology and took every course Owens offered in that subject. An Owens Tech grad,I finally became a registered nurse and worked at St. Charles Hospital for 10 years. I quit the hospital and worked at Bay Area Credit Union (old Sun Oil credit union)for 2 years and then quit after buying a tanning salon. I had the salon for 4 years, sold it and am now searching for a part time job. I have been married for to Ted (Whitmer grad) for 26 years and have a 25 year old son, Paul (2001 Clay Hi grad). We moved to this address in 1998 after buying 10 acres and finally building our dream home.We have a huge pole barn, an acre stocked pond and a dirt bike track (when my son decides to back hoe it better).I don't think I have changed much (few extra pounds and shorter hair and few wrinkles) since high school. LOL I am an avid bird watcher and have traveled to 26 states doing just that (and a little tourism) since 1999. Crane Creek (Magee Marsh) is the grteatest place in the USA for spring bird migration. It is in the top 10 places in the United States for bird watching. We have had an annual horseshoe tournament the third saturday in July every year for the past 10 years. Bring your tent or camper, whatever you want to throw on the grill and join the fun. You don't have to play shoes, there is swimming, fishing, bonfire, disc jockey and drinks!! We usually have anywhere from 40 - 80 people. It is just a great time. I have experienced a lot in my life ( read between the lines LOL) and I have loved every minute of it and am still loving it .... It would be great to hear from any of you Clay grads (or non grads) out in cyberland. I love to be online and chat or mess around on myspace. Talk to you later... Time goes by so fast so remember to Live..Love and most of all Laugh!!!! Jean
