Life What an amazing journey it has been! After graduating from Clarkson I went to U. of T. for 2 years studying Economics. Going into my 3rd year I decided that a general business degree wasn't what I wanted to do. I bought myself a computer when I was 11 years old and have been using them ever since, so why not make a career out of it? Starting my 3rd year I went into the Computer Science program, but quickly discovered the program at U. of T. wasn't what I was looking for. The field needed hands on experience in programming and networking, not theory about a programming language called Turing written by a professor at the University! I dropped the program. Looking at other schools, I picked DeVry in Mississauga since I was able to get a degree rather than a diploma. I knew all through high school that I wanted to move to the U.S., specifically Southern California, and if you want a company to sponsor you, you had better have a degree. DeVry is an OK school and I learned a lot of good skills there, but if I had to do it all over again I probably would have picked Western or some other major University. For my final semester I moved to Long Beach, CA and graduated from DeVry in Long Beach. Before moving to California I married my high-school sweet heart Melissa Tate in June, 1998. It was a great wedding with friends and family and a beautiful day. The day after the honeymoon I left for California and Melissa stayed in Toronto. I graduated with highest honors and a Bachelor of Computer Science in October 1998. I landed my first job that December doing Network Support for the City of Los Angeles. Melissa joined me in SoCal that January and we have been happily married ever since. I stayed at the City of L.A. for 6 months and by the end I couldn't wait to get out of there.
