Jeff's Story
I left home in September of 1980 moving to Fargo to live and play bass with Crystal Axe. In hindsight, not the greatest plan but it was moving forward as there wasn’t any work in Coleraine or Grand Rapids back then. I started taking classes at Moorhead State, and after breaking with the band I went full time for a little over a year. I toured and played with another working band, and after that inevitably went sour, I moved to Bemidji. I got a job at KAWE public tv, and now had a plan- I was going to get my degree and move to the cities! eventually what I did after a summer internship at KBJR in Duluth.
It was tough going in Minneapolis, but I got freelance work and learned my craft. I also started playing in bands again. I got to go into Paisley Park (never met Prince) and worked on music videos for Babes In Toyland. I also eventually got an evening job at KMSP as an engineer. a job and got a phone call -I got a job with Royal Caribbean cruise lines as a videographer and engineer for live shows. Thank god for getting scuba certified in Duluth. For two years I dove all over the Carib and the Pacific.
I returned to Minneapolis and got a job at a production house as an engineer. Then I met my wife crashing a wedding party. I was offered a job in Atlanta and we moved down here in 1996. I worked at Primerica Financial Services as a videographer and sound engineer. I traveled all over the country and to Europe. I’ve been in Georgia ever since and love this region. After getting my pilots license and even owning an experimental airplane for a few years, we had our second son and I was faced with the realization of finances. I stumbled onto a job at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. I’ve been here every since and have enjoyed a profoundly satisfying career as a cinematographer and video editor.
