Jeffrey's Story
After high school, I moved to Reno for a bit, then ended up in the Navy Nuclear program. Which sent me to schools in Florida and Idaho. I met my wife in Idaho, and then was sent to Alameda aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (aircraft carrier), went to the Persian Gulf a couple times, we provided support to operation restore hope in Somalia. Got the chance to see Hong Kong a couple times, Australia once and Hawaii many many times. When the ship went to the shipyard in 1996 I transferred to the USS Carl Vinson another aircraft carrier, stayed on through work ups and then transfered to shore duty at SIMA San Diego at the valve shop, mostly doing lift checks on safety and relief valves. During my Navy time had two kid...Expand for more
s, a boy Jeffrey and a girl Hilary. Got out of the Navy in 2000, and got a job developing maintenance for a couple oil platforms. This was a short term contract job, after which I went to work for Newport News Shipbuilding performing testing on reactor plant systems on the New Aircraft carriers, I worked through the pre-comm of the USS Ronald Reagan. While working at the shipyard I attended Old Dominion University and finished my degree. During this time we had our third child, William. Late last year we moved to Idaho where I am working at the Idaho National Lab at the Reactor Technology Complex. Right now I am looking to get into a graduate program at one of the local universities. That's about all as of now.
