Jeffrey's Story
I was transferred to this place by recommendation of my dean at Roseville High School.
When I first arrived I was greated with a warm welcome of stares, comments and curiosity. One of the faculty members was initially frightened by my presense, and is quoted at saying "I first thought you were here to kill someone"-- thanks Bill :)
Growing up, my parents always told me to just be myself no matter what. Unfortunatly this mantra didnt work in the schooling environment. Supresison of idenity was at work. you for being an individual, nor can you fully articulate your self outside of the walls of an institution until siad institution is no longer required.
... fast forward 10 years. I have a wife, 2 children, a house, a successful government carreer in the areas of computers and security. Even though I really didnt care much for the way I was inititall treated much less highschool in general, I did manage to take away some invaluable lessons.
About 8 years ago, I found that I have autism (aspergers syndrome). Appearently I was diagnosed at the age of 2, but didnt really know what that was, or really have any interest in knowing until my son was born. My son Winter who is now 8, and even thought he is more severe than I , he's the greates thing that ever happened to me. And we can share this life together.
