I guess the biggest surprise for anyone who "knew me when" but hasn't seen me since any time from age 12 to 24 is that the wheelchair is no longer part of my life. ven't needed the wheelchair since then. It honestly took me more than a year to get used to the idea...I knew how to be "the girl in the wheelchair" but didn't, at that point, know how to be the healthy woman I am now... But I adjusted! I'm happy and healthy now, and life is good.
