Jennifer's Story

Life When I attended Caridinal Ritter my name was Jennifer Bradley. In 1975, I married and became Jennifer DeGolyer. I had three sons named Casey, Timothy, and Chad. In 1986, my husband left me and got a divorce and remarried. I was a single mother for a year and a half and I left Indiana to live in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Needless to say my heart goes out to single moms. In 1988, I met the man who would become my second husband. He is a fine man who has helped me to raise my three sons and has encouraged me to further my education. Due to his job as a mechanical engineer, we have lived in Florida, Michigan, and currently in the state of South Carolina. At this time, I have one more semester at a technical college and will recieve an Associates degree in May 2005. My plan is to then attend Winthrop University in my town of Rock Hill, SC to work towards a degree in journalism. In addition to being a mechanical engineer, my husband, Jeff Mothersbaugh, is also a Commander in the US Navy Reserves. This past June, we became grandparents again for the fourth time. We now have four grandsons whom we adore. When I am not playing games with the grandchildren or studying for a test, I may be found in a used book store sea...Expand for more
rching for a rare find. In fact, it was my love for books that made me want to pursue a journalism degree. Also at this time, I attend a Free Evangelical Church in my community and my husband and I are very involved in the ESL ministry that helps people of different nationalities learn the English language. I am also involved with helping with the children's ministry and doing other duties in my church. For the past two and a half years, I have cleaned my church to help pay for my tuition. This job has been a learning experience for me in many ways and even though this may sound odd, it has helped me to keep focused and continue to finish school. My life has truly been blessed because of Jesus Christ and I am thankful for Him. Workplace From 1975 until 1986, I was a homemaker. When I was left alone with three sons to raise, I realized the importance of an education. I worked at a 7/11 making sandwhiches, at a grocery store as a produce clerk, at a company making explosive devices for the military, at a drug store as a cashier, at a florist delivering flowers, and finally at a missionary organization delivering mail. I then decided to pursue a journalism degree and hope to complete the degree and go on to write.
