Jennifer's Story

Life Hello, The question "Where did you grow up?" is always a hard one for me to answer. I have lived in many places. Toronto was my home for the first 7 years of my life and then I moved to Oshawa for the next 7. I loved Oshawa, the arena, the pool, the mall, Brownies, Guides, those dreaded piano lessons, dancing at Gaetan Ollesh School of dancing (sp?)and of course going to school at Ridgeway where I met some great people that I am unfortunately out of touch with. If you are one of them, drop me an email. Then it was onto Brantford where I went to BCI and worked at BK! Had a good time there too. University took me to Thunder Bay and Lakehead where I loved it! Yes, the snow was deep and the air cold, but the friends I met are eternal. I have lost touch with a few of you so please email me and reconnect. The Outpost, the Hoito, the Res. Council meetings and the great basketball games. After leaving school I went back! I am a teacher now and teach with the Waterloo Board. I teach Core French to grades 1-6 at two schools. The kids are great, but as my brother says...I've never left school! My parents moved to Hamilton at the end of my university career, but soon decided to also move to the great white north and are stationed in Thunder Bay now. I love visiting them so that I can reconnect with the great places I discovered during my university stay. I am still very single and have a great kitty to keep me company. She is very territorial and I am glad that she likes me and will allow me to stay in her apartment and sleep in her bed!!! I have started to travel and spent a month of last summer in China. What a great experience and the people I travelled with were fantastic. This ye...Expand for more
ar I hope to buy a house so travelling might be off the agenda for a little while. I have been a Brownie leader for the past 5 years and counting. My girls have had camps at the SkyDome, the Lion Safari and this year we plan to go to the Science Centre sleepover. This year my old roommie and I started a supper club with some friends to try out some new recipes and are taking cooking lessons. Our first attempt at shrimp raviolli on our own was actually a success! Yeah! Well, that's me in a nutshell. Hope to hear from you soon. Jen Workplace Work..been doing it for far too long. How many years is it until retirement? Oh only about 25..no problem I can handle that! In grade school I worked as a paper carrier for the Toronto Star. Made a lot of money for a little girl! In high school, Burger King in Brantford hired me and then couldn't get rid of me! I think I was there on and off for 6 years! Too long. I spent a summer working for ACLAiM in Etobicoke with some great people in the evenings and on the weekends. At university I worked for the Residence Conference Centre for a year as well. Now I work for the Waterloo Region District School Board as a Core French Teacher. I have worked at Sheppard Public School (gr. 1 French Immersion), Coronation Public School (gr. 1-4 Core French), Grandview Public School (gr. 1-6 Core French, also did some kindergarten in there until last year and was the librarian too for a few years), then I split my time between Grandview and New Dundee Public School (gr. 1-3 Core French). I have new challenges this year. I have helped open a brand new school here in Waterloo as the lead French teacher. It is a lot of fun and new adventures everyday. I love it!
