Life
If you've ever talked to a military family, they will describe there lives in relation to their different duty stations.....I'm no different.
After college Dan was sent to Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri for Officer Basic Training, I stayed back at UK to finish my degree. Halfway through the year he moved to Ft Campbell, KY. I quit school to join him (long story). 6 months later we moved to Ft Hood, TX. There we had Shelby in 92 and Hunter in 94. In 95 we moved to Ft Benning, GA so Dan could attend another school. We stayed there for 9 months and then on to Ft Riley, Kansas. Dan did his company command there and we made some really good friends. After having fun for almost 3 years, we completed our trek across the rest of the continent to Ft Irwin, CA. As remote and desolate as it sounds (it's on the edge of Death Valley) we had a great time. ple of times. We then got a dream assignment in Honolulu, HI. There I finished my degree and worked as a free-lance interior designer. After our short short time in Hawaii (never got the dreaded Island fever even after 22 months) we moved once again to the state of Kansas, to Ft Leavenworth. We like to call it the short tour since the federal and military prisons are both there. Anyway, it was another school for Dan so we were only there about 9 months. Then back to good old fortress Hood, TX. We're still here (6 years is the longest we've ever been in one place) and plan to be here for at least another 18 months or so. Dan is preparing to deploy for the 3rd time but this time to Afghanistan. Thankfully I am still working and that helps pass the time. Allison is now 24, Shelby is 17 and Hunter is 16. We moved to a new house about 2 years ago and of course we're renovating. We've got a pool out back and plenty of space, so if you're ever in TX, look us up!
