Jennifer's Story
Life
I moved to Illinois about 5 years ago, and I really like it out here, lots to do and see. I moved for a job, one I don't have anymore, but I'm really glad I made the move:). Currently, I am an Environmental Scientist at the Wendler Group, an environmental consulting firm. Life outside of work is busy. I just got married this summer to Dale Farris. Dale and I met over three years ago at a health club. We have a house in the suburbs of Chicago which we share with our cat Baxter and our bunny Shelton.
School
I went to St. Martha School from 1st to 8th grade, and graduated in 1993. I definitely had a good time there. I enjoyed my teachers, and liked almost every class. I had some good friends, but unfortunately have lost track of them all. I played soccer, basketball and softball at St. Martha.
I went to Archbishop Ryan for my freshman year of high school. I remember feeling very lost there, it was so much bigger than grade school, literally and figuratively. I could not stay at Ryan because of finances. I played soccer, basketball and softball at Ryan.
After that I went to George Washington High School and graduated in 1997. Those first couple of months at Washington were the worst times of my life. I only knew two people in the whole school, my brother and my best friend, which would have been enough, except our paths never crossed. As soon as basketball started up, things got easier, and then after soccer st...Expand for more
arted, I started to like Washington. I was glad that the people I played sports with were so nice, it definitely made high school bearable. I wish that I was still in contact with friends from Washington.
College
After I graduated from Washington, I went to Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA. I majored in Agronomy and Environmental Science. I was a starter on the women's soccer team as a defensive player. Our team made it to the playoffs my senior year, but unfortunately lost in the first round. It was a great opportunity to play college ball. I also joined a sorority, Delta Epsilon Beta. My best friends from college are either from the soccer team or the sorority. I was also a part of an academic fraternity, Delta Tau Alpha.
My time at Del Val was awesome, I was sad to leave. I am so grateful for all the people I met and experiences I had at Del Val.
Workplace
After graduation I got a position with Advanced GeoServices Corporation as a environmental field technician. I stayed with AGC for 6 months. I then moved to Illinois for a job with Testing Service Corporation. I was with TSC for almost 4 years. My title at TSC was Project Manager of Phase I Environmental Assessments. In October 2005, I accepted a position with the Wendler Group as a Project Manger/Environmental Scientist. I left Wendler in June 2007, and accepted the position of Consultant with Bureau Veritas, and international consulting firm.
