Jerry's Story
2017: Hard to believe over 60 years have passed since graduation, until you start recounting the events since then.
For me it's been a nice ride. College (5 years - never was that smart) then I went into sales for a German company selling large printing presses (for several different companies). I have 3 children with my 3rd wife: 1 rock star [ME degree from GA Tech], 1 Veterinarian, and 1 Air Force F16 pilot). I just built a home on Lake Keowee in SC.
My daughter, the Vet, has her own business (In Home Pet Euthanasia - Sweet Dreams My Pet), and she assures me I don't have to worry about getting old & senile. Great😳
2018 update - My wife of 42 years just passed in April after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Even though I've had 6 years to prepare for this it's harder than I thought it would be.
2019 update - After 50 years Georgia Dennis (Thornton graduate) and I have found each other again and are making plans to make it permanent. Our ...Expand for more
calendar includes golf, tennis, boating, travel and visiting family (5 kids and 12 grandchildren)
2020 update:
Georgia and I got married in a very small ceremony last October in the courtyard of one of our favorite restaurants in Clemson. A small group of close friends (Gary & Sue Vanlaningham included), & my daughter Amy we’re the only guests. We told the rest of our children the next day.
It’s been fun and challenging merging 2 sets of 70 year old habits!
Turns out even though we’re both from Harvey, winter weather is not our thing. And while Lake Keowee, SC weather in winter is nowhere near what Chicago weather is, its still too cold for our old bodies. So, we just bought a condo on the Atlantic Ocean in Amelia Island. We intend to spend winters there.
Georgia and I are looking forward to my 60th reunion this fall.
While we don't mind getting older one thing we were not prepared for was losing friends/ relatives on a too regular basis;
