Jerry D.'s Story

After graduation from Seacrest High School in 1956, I enlisted in the USAF. My Basic training was at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX for the first 6 weeks, then on to Keesler AFB, in Biloxi. MS for phase II of training and technical school. Technical school was 6 hours a day 5 days a week for 18 weeks. Then 10 weeks of Microwave sets 6 hours a day very intensive in-depth training. From there I was transferred to Sembach, Germany for a few months and spent most of my time in Berlin, Germany which at the time was located 110 miles inside of the Communist Germany border. This was in 1957-58 before "The Wall" went up. Almost became and extra in the movie "The Young Lions" with Marlin Brando and Montgomery Cliff. From Berlin I was transferred to Turkey, initially about 90 miles from Istanbul, at a base called Karamusel. From there I was transferred up on the Black Sea to a town called Samsun. In 1959 I transferred back to Keesler AFB to teach Microwave Fundamentals, sixth phase of the fundamentals course. I got out of the USAF in mid August 1960, married Faye Williams from Daytona on October 1st, 1960 (54 years ago). We have two sons, one born in 1962 and the other born in 1964 and one Grand Daughter and two Great Grand Daughters who live near us. I went to work at Cape Canaveral, Florida for The Martin Company, later Martin-Marietta, I was a launch crew member in the Tracking and Flight Safety/Destruct system on the Titan I, Titan II, Gemini, Titan III from 1960-1967, then after a lay off I went over to the Saturn V/Apollo Lunar program working in the Swing Arm Electrical section for The Boeing Company...Expand for more
and was on the "B" team for the Apollo II Lunar Landing launch. After that lay off, I went back to college and graduated from Seminole Jr. College with an AA Degree in 1972, graduated from the University of Central Florida ( UCF) at that time it was Florida Technological University (FTU). Earning a BA degree in Psychology in 1974 and a BA Degree in Vocational-Technical Secondary Education and designed and taught a course on The National Electrical Code Book to working electricians who were trying to improve their lives by taking the tests for Journeyman and Master Electrician. In 1976 we moved to Spring ,Texas where We live today. I have worked in several occupations since moving here, Electronics, Electrical, Maintenance and developed a National PPO Network of over 100 hospitals, over 100 out patient surgery centers and over 6,000 physicians as VP of Marketing, and I also developed a national discount PPO for Vision Care with over 250 locations and over 5,000 providers. I also was a licensed life and health independent general insurance agent for 30 years, from 1982-2012. For the pas t5 years we have been independent business and wellness consultants with Nikken. Nikken was founded in 1975, is a debt free D & B rated privately owned Japanese company with over 40 Million satisfied customers in 40 countries providing the best sleep, water, air, and nutritional and magnetic products available in the world. Nikken is the Worlds only Total Wellness Company. We have traveled to Europe to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on a Rick Steves tour in 2002 and back to Switzerland and Berlin, Germany in 2006.
