jerry's Story

Hi there! after high school, I moved to Healdsburg in Sonoma county, in 1965 I enlisted in the USMC, went to boot camp in Jan. I was a grunt, got out in 1969 due to a leg injury. Started working for safeway stores as a butcher, worked in a slaughter house for a year and after that did not want to do that line of work any more. got a job taking care of a 100 acre ranch for a family . in 1984 moved to Maui to run a parasailing business, But i missed the mainland and moved back. My wife, debbie used to work for the Robert Mondavi wine family as a nanny when she was going to college, and She introduced me to them, and they gave us good references. Then we took a ranch managers job for the family that owned the Fairmont hotel chain. it was a 2000 acre ranch with horses, chickens, big garden, a lake, swimming pool and 4 houses, they only came up on the weekend, it was a great way to live, after work i could go hunting for deer, in season and wild pigs. great life, had my own horse as did deb, we left there in 1994 when the owner passed away, we moved to Chandler AZ where i worked for an aero space company that built satellites. i was in maintenance in 1999 I got a call from Joe Montana looking for a ranch manager, he found out about us thru our best friends, who went to the same gym as joes wife jennifer went to , he flew us up there for an interview, and we took the job, mainly to be closer to my mother. as she was getting ill, it was a 500 acre ranch, jennifer had hunter jumper horses and joe had cutting...Expand for more

I met my wife Debbie who i have been married to for 45 years, in healdsburg, i was playing in a pool league at a little bar on the mountain above the river, and between games i was sitting on the curb talking to a friend and these two girls came walking down the road ! no streetlights, one had a pair of hiking boots, farmers overalls ,a plaid shirt and pigtails, she sat down next to me and we talked for about 20 min, before my next game, I told my friend , I think i'm in love... I saw her again at the river, and asked her out, we and we did, took her home that night, went out again and never took her home again, we were married 3 months later.
