Jessica's Story

Life Life has been pretty typical for me until a couple of years ago.I do not know if my life resembled more of a soap opera or a TV reality show! Of course, like most everyone, I graduated high school and college. I dated and dated, got engaged, broke off the engagement, dated, and dated again. I have succeeded in business which is my second joy, writing being my first. I have been asked to publish some things with some editing involved. I am still on the editing part, going on about eight years now. I cannot help it! Life happens. Over the years, we have all lost people that we have loved. I lost my first friend in the world, Tammy Griffen in 1998 to a car accident. I had lost one of my great-grandmothers the week before that. She was 94 years old. This was a difficult time for me because this was really the first time I experienced death. As time passed by, another great-granmother of mine who was 99 years old passed away as I kept working my fingers to the bone at my job, avoiding my fiance about the inevitable and as my sister was hooking up with the man of her dreams. Gabriel, my sister, was married July 21, 2002. This was the second wedding I had been in, in less than a week, mind you. This was the fourth time (You read right. The FOURTH time) I had been a bride's maid. Following the Summer of Weddings 2002, In 2003, my two remaining great-grandparents (Yeah, my family are actually vampires, who never die!) became ill, so I decided to move them in with me. What was I thinking!!! Here I was head of a full service pool construction business, finishing up college, and taking care of an 88yr old and a 86yr old that had been married for 70 years and bickered like they were divorcing tomorrow! Also, through this whole process, another very good friend of mine passes away from cancer and my cousin, Jordon Crabtree, decideds he is getting married 1 month from the time he called me and he is going to be a daddy!!!! I had already been to Kentucky twice that year, and now I was going to have to pay a war price for a plane ticket to go to a shotgun wedding in the backwoods of someplace near Fort Knox, KY. Lovely! Of course, I went, and it was, well, differ...Expand for more
ent. I mean, I am from a small town in Kentucky and I am use to the boone docks, but this place was backwoods boone docks!!! Ya know what I mean? All in all, they have a wonderful marriage, a beautiful daughter, and another baby due in June. Clearly, they still do not know about birth control! Following Jordon's wedding, I had to take, yet, another trip to Kentucky, because one of my most favorite people in the world had passed away unexpectedly, my dad's sister, my Aunt Debbie. How I still miss her today. As 2003, wound down, I thought 2004 would be a good year because 2003 had been such a sucky year. My sister was pregant with my nephew, so what could go wrong? It's all good! Little did I know...... The year 2004 started off pretty good. I was back in the dating scene even with all the responsibilities I was trying to maintain. That August, my great-granfather passed away. I was the only one with him at 3:30am in the morning, in the hospital when he left this world to enter another. He was buried one day before Hurricane Charley. Yeah, you read right, ONE DAY before Hurricane Charley! Charley whipped through Port Charlotte like there was no tomorrow. We actually did not think there was going to be a tomorrow. Needless to say, our family from Kentucky high-tailed it back home when the coast was clear, vowing to never come back again! Well, four hurricanes later and a bride's maid for the fifth time, it is 2005 and here I am. My life is going pretty good. My nephew is handsome and happy. I am very successful at my job, and I am still working on the dating scene. Granny is now in a nursing home in Beattyville, KY. It is now 2007 and it's all good! Just bought my first home on the water in February 2007 and I'm loving it! College I have a Bachelor's in Legal Studies from Eastern Kentucky University. I have a Bachelor's in English from Florida Gulf Coast University, and I have two associates' in Business from Edison College. Hey, what can I say???? I have been a very busy girl!!!! :) Workplace I am the administrator for a construction firm in Punta Gorda, FL. I love the construction industry! My five year goal is to purchase the firm I am working for.
