Jessica's Story

Life Wow, life in general... After high school, I decided on getting married instead of doing the whole college thing. I was married to my husband in June, 1998, and we welcomed our 1st son in February, 1999. Talk about not waiting :-). In 2002, we welcomed our 2nd child, a daughter. For a while, I felt my life was complete. However, that feeling was very short lived. In 2003, I decided to go back to school. Since I don't do anything halfway, I attended school almost full time taking 9-10 credit hours a semester, working full time and raising 2 beautiful children. In October, 2005, my husband and I welcomed our 3rd child, a son! Now, here I am, going to school, raising 3 children and working full time! Something had to give... so I chose my job. Instead of going back to work full time, I chose to work PRN (as needed). This helped me bring some money into the house, and concentrate on my family and school at the same time. I graduated with my Associates of Arts degree in August, 2006, with honors! To me, that was a major accomplishment! Now, I am starting course studies at the University of Florida in their Business program. I should have my BS degree in 2 years! Wow, from where I started, it still amazes me! My husband, Rick, and I live in DeLand, FL, with our 3 children, Dylan, Sydney and Ryan, and 2 dogs, Belle and Cosmo (yes, named after the Fairly Odd Parents... the kids named him). We live 10 miles from our most favorite spot... the Daytona International ...Expand for more
Speedway! We are huge Nascar fans. I try to send my family to the Daytona 500 or the Pepsi 400 each year. This year, however, I am sending my husband to Talledaga. We are also huge football fans... the New England Patriots of course :-). My life is my family and school. Unfortunately, I do not have much free time for anything else. I know it sounds pretty boring, but to me, it is challenging, fun and enlightening. School School was just school when I was there. All I wanted to do was get out! Eventhough I graduated from Shelton High School, the main inspiration to who I am remained at Seabreeze High School. Mrs. Guidotti was my business teacher in both 9th and 10th grade. She taught me so much about who I wanted to be and what field of study I wanted to go into. Though I did not go to college right out of high school, I always knew I wanted to go into business. I was just not sure what area. It took me 5 years to figure out I wanted the medical business field (I am definately not someone who can look at blood and stay standing upright). I have worked in many different areas at Florida Hospital DeLand and my most recent is customer service. To me it is fun and challenging. Thanks to Mrs. Guidotti, I have worked harder than ever to achieve my business degree (an AA from Daytona Beach Community College). I received my degree in August of 2006 with honors and now I am going to the University of Florida to obtain my Bachelors degree in Business Administration!
