Jessica's Story
Life
Well, looking back on my life, I never thought I would be where I am today. I did a lot of things I wasn't proud of and let some people down. But God saw what I could be and had mercy. He changed my life and so now I dedicate my life to Him. I want to be a living testimony in everything I do. I want to bring more people to his truth and if you are hungry for God, I suggest you pray with a sincere heart that God will lead you to the truth and don't settle for anything less. There are plenty of false doctrines out there and they are warned about in the bible. Also, you can't live half-heartedly for God. It has to be all or nothing you give Him. These are the last days that the bible prophesied about. We have to be ready to meet Jesus when He comes for us.
Acts 2:1-4 (1) And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:38-39 (38) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (39) For the promise is unto you, and to your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Acts 19:2-6 (2) He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. (3) And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. (4) Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they s...Expand for more
hould believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. (5) When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (6) And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Have you been baptized? If so, then unto what baptism? If it wasn't important whether you were baptized in Jesus' name or not, then they wouldn't have instructed to be baptized again in Jesus' name. Being baptized in Jesus' name and receiving the Holy Ghost by evidence of speaking in tongues was the best thing that ever happened to me and my family. I was truly cleansed from my sin. This was promised to all of us who the Lord God shall call. This promise was not just for the church back then. We have to apply the bible to our lives and not just read something and say to ourselves, "That was for back then. God doesn't really require us to do that now."
In Hebrews 13:8 it states that "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever." He doesn't change. We might change and try to pick and choose what parts of the bible we can apply to ourselves, but we can't conform the bible to our lives, we have to let the bible change our lives.
I know from my own experience that I was very stubborn when it came to accepting some of the things that are in the bible. I couldn't argue though when I read it for myself. Then when I started letting my will go and accepting God's will, that's when God unblinded my eyes. It's a hard road once you decide that you will do whatever it takes to be saved, but it is sure worth it! That's why I am a living sacrifice for God. To sacrifice it means to give up something of value for something else. Jesus did it for me when He hung on the cross so why shouldn't I give up my life and my old ways for Him?
