Jim's Story
Life
These days I'm living in Waconia, MN & Venice, FL. Waconia is a small bedroom community west of the metro Minneapolis, MN area and Venice is a small retirement and tourist community just south of Sarasota, FL. on the gulf coast. I'm semi retired and mostly focusing on lots of tennis, biking, hiking, fishing and grandchildren. Some golf but not much.
I spent my working life in Sales and Sales Management mostly in the Cash Register/ Computer/ Hardware / Software business calling on National accounts across the country. And I ended up my corporate life as VP of Sales & Marketing for a Computer Hardware & Software company in 1992. Then at the tender age of 50 I did what I should have done at 30, I started a small business and became self employed. In this case, itâÂÂs a one man consultant business. Then in 2004 at 62, I tried to retire but it didn't take. So now I'm semi retired and I still manage to put in about 20 hours of...Expand for more
work each week. It would seem that the business would not go away just because I wanted to retire. And although my business is primarily in Minnesota, I manage to do as much billings working out of Florida (each Winter) as I do working out of Minnesota for the balance of the year. So life is good these days and Florida beats the hell out of Minnesota in the Winter.
Fortunately, I still enjoy my health and as a consequence, I am still able to enjoy my retirement. So I guess that is as much as one can expect at this point in life.
My days in Venice consist of morning tennis each day for 2-3 hrs. with the boys, lunch at the club, mid day bike rides or bocci ball and then a little office work each afternoon before it's time for the gym, tread mills, hot tubs and a evening swim. I know, it sounds terrible but someone has to do this.
