Jim's Story

Growing up in Lake Stevens, Washington, I went from Kindergarten through graduation in 1970, living in the same house that my mother finally passed away in a few years ago...a pertty stable environment compared to the typical. Instead of entering the Air Force (was offered a Commission to Colorado Springs by the late Henry "Scoop" Jackson), I paid my own way to attend Northwest College (now Northwest University), where I majored in Biblical Literature and Minored in Music and Greek. Looking back, I really spent more time majoring in dating lots of girls without commitment, having a good time, and barely keeping my grades up enough to qualify for Choralons and musical travel! In my 4th year I met, then married Debbie Cook, who bore me two sons and a daughter; we served in lay-Pastoral positions for eleven years, then because of my business and involvement in Full Gospel Business Men, I stepped aside from pastoral work and focused more on my growing family. As my sons grew old enough, I served in Royal Rangers as a Lieutenant Commander in the largest outpost in the NW ...Expand for more
at New Life Center in Everett, WA, while Debbie was the Missionettes Coordinator. I enjoyed participation in their music program, sang in the choir, played the guitar as needed, and had a great life... until after 18 years with no significant argument, she became disillusioned with life and had to "go find herself..." I remet Terri (Hiatt) Johnson, whom I had dated a few months before Debbie, while both of our marriages were breaking up, and we jumped into our yet-legal marriage possibly a bit too soon... Now, after 14 years, I've moved to Alaska for work, alone, while she remains in our Lake Stevens home. God is not finished with either of us yet, so we're each seeking His will and talking on the phone regularly... I know the He causes ALL things to work out for our BEST as we submit to His Will. I'm currently working for Seattle-based Control Contractors Inc in their Juneau Branch Office, serving the local community and flying to sites around SE Alaska as an Electrician/Service Technician for HVAC and Refrigeration, and attending Juneau Christian Center for worship.
