Jim's Story

A week after graduating from St. Joe's, we moved down to the Jersey Shore where my Mom re-married three years post my Dad's passing. We suddenly became a family of 9 total. It was a summer! Then onto Rutgers the following September where my concentration was in Psychology with several courses in Spanish, French, and philosophy. Soon after leaving Rutgers I moved to Denver, CO and landed a part time position in the head start program while working in a local landscape nursery. The owners were like family to me and invited me to stay and learn the landscape business. However, my interest in seeing more of the US and my meeting people from the Pacific NW, re-ignited the travel bug in me. I moved to Seattle and earned my accounting degree from Central Washington University. Married for 31 years until Marianne passed several years ago. t-for profit. Marianne and I did not have kids and instead devoted the majority of our time in supporting and establishing churches in Seattle, Bellevue, Bellingham, and Scottsdale. And that was in our spare time. Been loving the Pacific NW in spite of the rain and 10 month cloud.... Even so, I will always hold cherished memories of NJ - growing up in WNY, a great experience at Rutgers, and spending time and visiting family on the Jersey shore. It's been truly a lifetime of highs and lows, surprises and achievements. At the end of the day, though, the message is the same as we heard in our youth - family, love, friendship, giving back. I've heard the sad news that some of our classmates are gone. Although decades have passed, our connection remains regardless of time and lived experiences. I am indebted to my family, educators, and friends and acquaintances. They, and those of you who were in my life in some way at St Joe's, have given me rich memories. To all our class, I wish you many, many more of them.
