Jim's Story
I had a bicycle accident in 2011 so I no longer officiate I still can instruct Hunter Safety Education for the Fish and Wildlife Commission, 4-6 times per year. I still advise/coach a precision small bore shooting Boy Scout Crew made up of boys and girls between ages 14-21. Many are quite talented and work hard at their chosen sport. Our annual goal is to get to Camp Perry in Sandusky, Ohio and compete in the National Championships.
I retired from the commercial insurance brokerage for a national firm, but continue my insurance education and update my several Risk Management designations. I actively manage my own real estate holdings.
In past 10 years I traveled to New Zealand with my SAE Fraternity Big Brother, Doug Barhorst from Sidney Ohio to hunt Red Stag and some other exotic species. The picture...Expand for more
is the one I took down. We had a time of our lives, lots of outdoor adventure, seeing the beautiful countryside, and enjoying our host, the world famous Mungunui Hunt Lodge.in Waitomo NZ. I drove to Wyoming in 2011 to hunt Elk in the Rattlesnake Mountains West of Casper. Saw a bull when the sun was almost down for the day, chased him a mile and half (down hill mostly thank God) and finally had the shot but missed. That is why they call it hunting, not shooting.Hopefully my health will last for another try. Our daughters Jamie and Jill married in 2013 and 14 respectively. Jamie and Jimi gave us our first grand child recently and it has been quite a lot of fun. My wife, Janet, retired after 35 years of teaching June 2014.Now we enjoy our time, our lovely town of Naples, our friends and of course our family.
