Jim's Story
Life
I went into the Marines after high school. Electronic schools for about a year and a half of my 4 years there. Bought a Grocery store in Nevada in 1983 and have ran that since. I've been to a PI school, refrigeration and heating school, and emergency medical school. I have a 26 year old son, 23yr old daughter, 15 yr old daughter, 13 yr old daughter, 4 yr. old son. Now my wife and I run our store and I volunteer on the local ambulance service. Las Vegas is 1hr 15min away. ....update... We bought a place in Comitan, Chiapas in Mexico. We are planning on moving there in 2011.. We vacation there whenever we get a chance. We sold our 10 acres here in Nevada and used half the money to buy this place that is 10 times a better place to live. I am talking about the sites and the mild stable climate, I don't hate Nevada or anything about it, I just like the new home more..
So now we live on an acre, all the stuff from the 10 acres... My horses are on my store property so that makes it a little easier. The store has almost 2 acres with it. Anybody want to buy a store in the Nevada Desert???? I still...Expand for more
have 5 years to sell it so no rush... If I can find a dependable couple to run it between now and then I will keep it and over see it from a distance.
I am hoping to go to the reunion this summer. I don't know a lot of the class but hope to see a few I know and meet a few more. I know a lot of people that weren't in the class of 76 so I will enjoy seeing them outside of the reunion.
Good news here in Amargosa Valley, Nevada.... The land prices are sky-rocketing.. Population is climbing.. Although I don't like the population I am leaving in 5 years so the extra retirement money is GOOD NEWS....
Better news... I sold my store and it is only 3 years until I move to Chiapas Mexico!!!!! I have been working on starting a summer camp that will have a theme centered on archeology, geology, conservation, and exploring. It will be based in the beautiful mountains of Chiapas Mexico. We will teach scuba diving and other water fun things, plus we will adventure into places that few English speaking people (maybe none) have ever been. It is an exciting adventure for me just to work on this project...
