from fungi or bacteria which could cause disease in the growing crop. I was very active in international aspects of the seed industry through the International Seed Testing Association (based in Zurich Switzerland), FAO (Rome Italy) and the International Seed Trade Federation. I was chairman of the Plant Disease Committee for almost 10 years, a position which enabled me to travel to some rather exotic locations that we would otherwise never have dreamed of. The best of these was a trip to Bolivia in 2003. We live south of Ottawa near Kemptville and have three children and three grandchildren all living nearby.
