Jimmy's Story

Jimmy is from Bloomington. He now lives in sunny Florida where he has always wanted to live. I now visit Bloomington a couple times a year. It will always be home I guess. I have a son 30 something and a grandson I think 16. Have never been to a class reunion, don't remember ever being invited till this year,.the 40th. From looking at the lists I only remember a couple of the names. I'm sure there must be others around. When I attended South it was the first year for it and I only went half a day till January and graduated, never attended that ceremony. I started 1st grade at Hensonburg then went to Fairview and then Dyer. I moved to Stinesville with my sister and went to Edgewood my sophmore and junior years. Then moved to Bloomington with my step sister just to go my last year at Bloomington. Not sure if there is a need to continue here as I'm not sure of the interest there might be. I do enjoy writing and even started a book,..still have it somewhere. Never really liked school that much, but like a lot of people I regretted not doing more when I had the chance. Now I love history,.some of it anyway. I love art, music, travel, and my tastes in these is somewhat broad. Music I like Classic Rock and Rock, Blues. Some Classicial. Art I like abstract I guess. If I were an artist it would be different I am sure. I do scroll saw portraits in wood,.have sold a few and donated a lot. I could teach anyone to do it. I spend quite a bit of time on the computer, too much as you might be able to tell. One might say I am lonely or bored and for the most part that is very true. Not sure how people back in school saw me but I can imagine. I do like being around people and sometime ...Expand for more
I am the center of attention, even being very shy. I guess with age we change some and usually for the better. Today I am living in Lakeland Florida, a medium size city between Tampa and Orlando. Lots of different cultures around here as you might guess. I think its a cleaner city that Bloomington, I have only once seen graffiti here one time,..and I think that was close to the railroad tracks,.probably a drifter from the north passing through. I do not like the traffic though, the stoplights are probably the longest I have ever seen, some as long as 3 or more minutes,.I timed them Traffic moves along well though.. Interstate 4 is nice,..cept they run over you if you go under 85. I try to avoid it at certain hours. I have not been to Disney or any of the places of interest here yet, thinking of maybe this summer or spring. Only been here since summer of 11'. Started a bucket list. So far not done any of them as yet but again I plan on that this spring or summer. Parasailing, Hot air balloon ride,.are at the top of the list. After high school I joined the Navy,.never went over seas or any of that,.Viet Nam was over. I got out,.got married,.17 years, divorced,.got married,.12 years divorced. I guess I'm just hard to get along with, I worked as a mechanic which I didn't like for a few years, then worked at IU for just over 30 years. I retired 12/2010 at age 55,..worked 5 months part time at Menards then decided to come down here to Florida. I really like it here for the most part, live in a 55 + community, being one of the youngsters its a load of fun. Well I still have 16000 some characters left but I know most have given up by now, so I'll end this here,..thank you much!!
