I bought my first car in the summer of 1955. I paid $35 for a piece of running junk, a 20 year old Ford V-8 convertable with a rumble seat. buyer's mother questioned her son's sanity paying $35 for a car with 90,000 miles on it. I didn't have the heart to tell her that since the odometer was broken I had no idea what the actual mileage was which could be as much as 190,000. Kids troday are so spoiled with new or late model cars given to them with maintenance, gas and insurance paid by mom and dad.
