Jo's Story
Updated 2014:
Our son, Tyler is now 20, 6'4" and starting his Jr year at the University of Minnesota! He is double majoring in Applied Economics and Philosophy. Wow time has gone by fast!
I am still an artist but had to close my art school/studio/gallery in 2013 due to economic issues. I put up my paint brush and kind of floated 9 months or so, then took a temp job at Macy's to do something different. Used to work in retail in college and of course with the gallery but it had been over 13 years since I worked for anyone else! I have actually really enjoyed not being the boss...surprising really. I started doing visual displays as a temp, then did seasonal sales, and now am full time in the Wedding & Gift Registry at their Burnsville Center store. I am actually having fun with it.
Personally, I am doing well too. I am still married to Jeff Heikes and we have been together for like 27 years! And we have made our home in ...Expand for more
the mid-west since 1993. And yes we still have Rexie (15) and Cooper (8), our Westie pups! We have a good life together and what more can one ask for!
2000 to 2012:
In 2000 I left corporate America and went back to Art School. At about the same time, given my sales and marketing background, I started a small art marketing company. That grew into other things and in 2006 opened a new business where I was an artist and owner of an art gallery with 8 artist's studios and a small art school (2006-2012). I have a wonderful husband, Jeff H., who I have been with since 1987, and a 14 year old son named Tyler, who is in 9th grade, 6ft 2 and loves baseball. He's a great guy, and quite the teen! We have 2 westies named Rex and Cooper. I live in Savage MN, where I also have the studios. I am chair of the areas arts council, a member of the local chamber and several area arts organizations. I love my artist friends and my non-corporate life!
