Worked as telephone operator; office clerk; secretary; word processor/ typist at APL/JHU. In 1982 hired at a union in DC as WP typist, and after the office switched from mag card machines to a mainframe computer, I was promoted to supervisor of the IS word processing group. Moved up to developing class materials and conducted classes for employees using mainframe applications. When the union switched to networked PCs I designed classes, wrote texts, and taught classes on PC hardware and software applications; provided user support for both. About 5 years before I retired, IS department was reorganized and computer training and support was contracted out.
