Joan's Story

Life Hi everyone. Just thought I'd try a free limited time enrollment with this site to see if I could connect with a few people from good ol' Somonauk. Gosh, I guess I'm supposed to give a thumbnail sketch of what I've been doing for the last 30-plus years (hard to do)! I went to a secretarial school in Rockford and lived there for 2 yrs., came back home and worked at CTS Knights, met a cute engineer, married, helped put him thru school (NIU); then we moved to Phoenix, AZ, where we've lived for almost 30 years (with a brief break to PA and back to Sandwich for a couple of years). My hubby and I are into old houses and have fixed up a couple. We presently live in a 1920's historic district near downtown Phoenix and have a home we're presently restoring in the old mining town of Bisbee, A...Expand for more
Z as well. We have been avid hikers (especially when we were a few years younger) and have been in or on probably most of the canyons and mountains in Arizona, and even hiked Copper Canyon, Mexico. Now we are going through a biking phase-- we pedal road bikes all over central Phoenix. I put the typing I learned at SHS (thank goodness Mrs. Dale made me stick it out) to use and became a legal secretary, part-time right now. I also do some antique collecting, crafts, feline rescue and volunteer work for my church. My husband Gary (from Cambridge, IL) is one of two engineers who own a small electronics company in Phoenix called BeckElec. I'd love to have the opportunity to say hi to any old classmates or neighbors and invite anyone who comes through Phoenix to say howdy when they're in town.
