Joan's Story
Life
This is an updated bio, March '08Â I met my husband, Tim, fall our senior year through family. We married the following summer to begin years of excitement. Tim has now retired from the United States Marine as a two star general and the life that allowed us to live all over the world. We have lived in four states and two countries while raising our three children. I am not only a Marine wife, but my oldest son was a Marine Reservist who served in Iraq in '03 making me a Marine Mom. rthquakes and closer to Sooner football. Tim and I passed emails back and forth from Iraq; while I learned what I could about San Antonio over the internet. Once he returned we jumped in our car and headed east to Texas and in less than 48 hours we had found our dream retirement home on a golf course on the north side of town. We love the people, the weather, the culture, and you can not beat the food - both BBQ and Tex- Mex. The kids followed us here with one in Austin, one in law school at OU and one right here in town teaching 6th graders. No more spread all over the world for me and I can say I do not miss it one bit.
Tim is still doing some consulting work that keeps him busy. While we also still have connections with the military life with San Antonio having two large bases, one Air Force and the other Army and housing one of the biggest military hospitals that serve our returning injured. But retired life is GOOD! And Texas is GREAT!
