Joanne Isle Hopkins:  

I was born and raised in Orcutt/Santa Maria, and attended Orcutt Elementary School and then on to Santa Maria High. My first job right out of high school was for State Farm Insurance (Gene Skeeters). I married David Olson a month after graduation and had a son Rick who is now 43. We divorced in 1970 and I did some traveling to Europe (Italy, Spain, Portugal, France & Switzerland), Mexico and Hawaii. In 1981 I married Steve Hopkins (graduate of SMHS Class of 1964), and raised his two boys Steven and Jason. I worked for the Santa Maria Police Department as a civilian supervisor beginning in April of 1968 through March of 1997. I then spent the last 6 1/2 years of my career working for the Santa Cruz Police Department as a Police Services Manager. That was a wonderful and challenging opportunity.
