Jody's Story

Jody died on 8/27/2020 -- he knew how to live and happily played his piano up until the end. Here's to hoping we can all continue to celebrate the years, laughs and adventures. --------------- After high school, I continued to play keyboards locally and toured with various rock and soul groups (The Muddy Waters, The Useful Knowledge Society, The Yellow Brick Road, The Telstars, The Plum Beach Incident, Storm, The Leroy Taylor Explosion, Virginia, etc.) until 1972. I started a landscaping corporation in Arlington that year, and it was sold in April 2018. Complete Lawn Service Inc had a really great run of 47 seasons, but all things must pass eventually. Now retired, and trying to figure out how to get my fair share of welfare and food stamps. I married a Yorktown girl (Pamela Galvin, who graduated in 1974) in 1983. We have lived in VA, Manhattan / NYC, Atlanta, Houston, and Redondo Beach (where I was lucky enough during the last couple of years there to play and jam again with some fantastic musicians including Jonathan Valen who was the tour drummer for Judas Priest and Jack Maher and Jed Motley of Feed The Kitty. We were at little clubs in Redondo Beach most Tuesday and Thursday nights). Pamela was transferred to Chicago in 2009 and we kept the CA home until 2012. I bought a condo back in Houston in 2010 in The Galleria. We hooked up on the weekends in CA and TX, and loved the lifestyle. She was transferred to The Woodlands TX in 2011, where we have now built a home on Lake Paloma in Creekside. We're not running from the law, just still following her c...Expand for more
areer path, and we really hope we've made our last big move. BUT...……. Pamela now lives in Bentonville AR since she accepted the position of VP of Global Change And Journey Management for Walmart, so we're again meeting on weekends in Houston, Bentonville or some other fun and cool place. AND...……. She has now been transferred to Houston as of June 1, 2018. The circle is once again unbroken. EXCEPT...……. She decided to retire August 1, 2018. so (possibly) both our working days are finally over. My knees were shot because of Arthur and an old baseball injury, so I had to stop playing golf. Both have now been replaced (right in January 2016 and left in August 2016 - and don't let anyone tell you the operation is nothing - it's definitely SOMETHING). It's now been some time since the last operation, and both knees are really doing great and we have returned in 2019 to our old golfing ways. I hit balls at a range in April for the first time in 5 years, and it wasn't a bad re-start for the game I love. And we still remain the poster children for DINK's! Unfortunately, 5 days after my birthday in March, I had a stroke. Fortunately, it was a reasonably light one and I'm back home and rehabbing daily. Things are getting better and my doctors expect a full recovery in 4-6 months, so I'm still the luckiest person I ever knew. And I can still play my keyboards very well and know it will continue to improve. “life Goes On” as The Beatles said in Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da and..... "Life's (still) been good to me so far", and I'm still really looking forward to the next 73!!!!
