Jose's Story
Since graduating from high school, I have lived a varied and exciting life.
Initially, I started college majoring in Criminal Justice. After a term and a half at Miami-Dade, I enlisted in the United States Air Force.
I spent 9 plus years in the Air Force working as a Crew Chief on B-52's for about 3 years. I then was transferred into Headquarters Squadron where I worked in Job Control; we controlled, scheduled and coordinated all the maintenance on our aircraft. I was assigned to Grand Forks AFB for 8 years and 1 1/2 to March AFB. Although I was only assigned to these two bases during my career, I was TDY (Temporary Duty)numerous times, visiting some very interesting places.
After the service, I embarked on a career in Law Enforcement. My career spanned almost 30 years. I started as a Reserve Police Officer with the Colton Police Department in Colton, Ca. Next, I moved back to Florida where I became a Police Officer for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. I spent 22 years with the department, 7 as a Patrol officer and the remaining 15 as a Detective/Investigator.
I retired from Ft. Lauderdale Police in Sept. 2004 at which time my wife, Diann, and I moved to Virginia. Mt retirement was short lived as I went back to work for the Radford Department of Police, in Radford City, Virginia,on the 27th of Sept. 2004. I spent my entire career here as a Detective/Investigator ...Expand for more
and Crime Scene Investigator. Finally on April 1st, 2009 I again decided to retire and am still retired as of this writing.
Currently, I have gone back to school to finish my degree. I am Majoring in Criminal Justice Administration and hope to graduate in the fall of 2010.
A small update, as of Aug. 17, 2009, after 4 1/2 months of retirement, I once again un-retired. I am now the Fraud Investigator with the Montgomery County Department of Social Services. I have also started a privated business Teaching Domestic Violence and Sexsual Assault Investigative techniques to Law Enforcement, Advocates, Colleges, and the public at large.
I am married to the most Wonderful Woman, Diann. We celebrated our 11 year anniversary in April and could not be happier. Between us we have 5 grown children, 3 girls (oldest) and 2 sons (youngest). We also have 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. All still live in Florida except the youngest daughter who is currently in the US Navy working on Aircraft Electronics.
When we moved to Virginia, Diann and I bought a 20 acre farm, with 2 ponds, an old barn, and a home that was literally built around an 1820's Wormy Chestnut Log Home. We have 3 horses and just love the peace, quiet, and slower pace of country living.
I hope this finds all well with all of you and feel free to contact me through here or Facebook.
God Bless All of You and You Families.
