John's Story
What would surprise everyone at my high school reunion? I haven't had a cigarette or joint in over 2 years, I'm the father of three daughters, and I attend a Lutheran church on a semi-regular basis.
Which teacher would love to see me again? I'd like to think all of them. I don't recall making any real enemies. I pissed a few off, I'm sure, but they'd probably all like to hear from me. I hope...
The wildest thing I ever did in school? You mean, actually IN the school? Probably dropping acid and going to playwriting class and having to read that scene with Gail from the Neil Simon play where I had to tell her she had nice breasts. I'm laughing NOW just thinking about it...
What happened to my first crush? I'm hoping she'll email me and tell me how well her life turned out for her. At desertrats2011 at yahoo dot com .......
How do I hope old friends remember me? I hope I made them laugh, or at the very least smile real big. In a word, I hope they remember me fondly.
To be truly happy I would be right here, hanging out, with my wife. It really is that simple.
What's been my biggest surprise? Being straight's a lot more fun than being high ever was. Never saw THAT coming......
One do-over? What would I do differently? I'd like to say "absolutely nothing" because I'm quite content with who I am and wher...Expand for more
e I'm at. But if I could be who I am and where I'm at without hurting some of the people I've hurt...that'd be cool.
What's the weirdest job I ever had. The aspiring writer in me wants to make up something completely off the wall, but in all honesty I'd have to say either...A.) being the parts manager at a car dealership (weird because I don't know dick about cars), or B.) becoming the department manager for the newsstand in a Barnes & Noble about three weeks before September 11, 2001. That was actually VERY weird.
Where have I lived, and why did I move? Ok, here we go...
I moved from my mother's house in Glenside to Wife #1s apartment in Hatboro because, well, I had a habit...she had a Mac card. We moved from Hatboro to Central Pennsylvania to get away from the very drugs that brought us together. Go figure. I moved from that house to Wife #2s house because Wife #1 asked me to take The Girls and leave. A week later she decided she wanted The Girls back and sent The Sheriff to my job. Wife #2 and I bought a house about a quarter mile from Wife #1 so I could be near THe Girls. And I've been here ever since.
