John's Story

Life We have three cats they have since deceased in 2014, we now have three cars. I do alot of genealogy on my family(s). I am retired and live in a new home with my wife and son. My wife is going to have a total knee replacement on April 18, 2006. I spent 36 years in the Air Force, 12 active and the rest in the reserves or guard. I owned my own computer store from 1981 to 1996. I have three degrees, AS in Management, BA in Business Administration and MBA. One interesting aspect of my life I just recently found out was that my father had four wives without any divorce, and that I have 11 half-brothers and sisters in Mass. and Conn. We had a reunion of five of the half-brothers and sisters in Seymour, Conn. in 2002. Wife Judy is doing well with her two new knees. I have found my Polish family doing genealogy; and they are coming over to the US to meet all the family. They are the only survivors on my grandmoters side, and only36 are left in Poland. My sister Carol, who lives i in Stratford, Conn. Mom passed at the age of 97 in Stratford, Conn.. Her name is Vera McAuley. I will be writing a book soon on my father. I am waiting for notes from some of the relatives on their knowledge of him. I have the research material all completed. As of 30 Dec, 06 I have done the first chapter, and I am awaiting more research data from my half brother Henry. The book is now published and can be had through Google, The Adventures of Wild Bill Donovan, author: John L. Donovan. It took me from 1955 to 1973 to get my BA in Bus. Admin.; I was in the Air Force for most of that time. I received my BA while in the Air Force under their "Bootstrap" program. I continued my studies in LA and finally back to Eastern WA Univ. to receive my MBA. So perseverence pays off. I also receved my AS in Mgmt., with the Air Force Community College in 1979. I got a big write up in the Air Force base paper on my achievements in education. While on "Bootstrap", I was almost a civilian, as I wore civilian c...Expand for more
lothes for a quarter at school. That was a great feeling. I always wanted to be a accountant when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right. The wildest thing I did in High school was swim across Beardsley Park Lake drunk doing the backstroke. I don't drink anymore; I learned my lesson. We now are down to three cars a 2017, Hyundai Tuscon, a 2017 Jaguar and 2017 Hyundai Accent My Polish cousins, who I never met came to America on 12 August 2009 and transported them to my sister's home in Seymour, Ct. They spent 28 days with us and my sister; we visited many places of interest; Milford, Ct. beaches, Sherwook Island Beach, Lake Compounce in Bristol, Ct., the Milford, Ct malls, including about 10 hours of shopping by the Polish cousins in a two day period. They also went to Best Buy and bought up alot of electronic items such as laptop computer, digital camera, camcorder, and cell phone, it costs twice as much in Poland. We visisted the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, Ct., took the ferry from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson, Long Island, NY; tour a train from Statford, Ct., to Grand Central and toured the city by bus; saw the Statue of Liberty, Elllis Island, Rockefeller Center, the UN, China Town, Little Italy, Greenwich village, and other sites. All in all the vacation was a blast, we had to come from Deer Park, WA via car, 2750 miles to Seymour, Ct., and put on 1000 miles locally, plus on return to WA state we put on 3150 miles; because we detoured to Kansas City, MO to pick up some of our sons belongings. What a trip for old people. On the 26th of Sept. we transported our Polish cousins to the airport for their journey back to Jaslo, Poland. After we returned an only two weeks later we went to Redmond, Or. to visit my wife's two sisters and brother's in law, had a great time there too. Since then one of wifes' sister died in 2010. I now live in Post FALLs, Idaho since 2009. Now we are up to 25 Dec. 2017, just turned 80 in November
