John's Story

Life as of 1/13/2010, After high school graduation, I attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis where I was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity. Along with a lot of fun and partying, I wrote up and presented a grant statement requesting funds from the university to replace the electrical wiring in our(off-campus fraternity-owned) fraternity house. My plea was successful and the first time the university gave money to a social fraternity. I double majored in Business Administration and Fraternity :^). I was also working on a minor in Communication with an emphasis in Theatre. I successfully saved the theatre in Benton Hall from being turned into a bunch of Chemistry labs (at least for a while)when budget cuts threatened to close the entire theatre dept. I converted the theatre dept. to a student run club. We fixed up the theatre and held two plays in the first two years. I spoke with Blanche Touhill once about what I was doing and she was very excited. She said she always had an interest in the theater. I think I may have had some minor influence in the building of the Touhill Performing Arts Center. Who knows? I met my wife Laura at UMSL at a fraternity/ sorority mixer. She picked my name out of a hat. She even dropped here fiance for me and he had money. If you want more details about that, let me know. We were married in March '92. I transferred to Lindewood University (then College) to finish up my degree at night and work full-time. When I graduated I left Boatmen's Bank and was hired at McDonnell Douglas as a schedule analyst. Now it is Boeing and I'm still there. Last year, my family and I moved from Florissant to Madison, Alabama (near Huntsville). I took advantage of a job opportunity at Boeing to work on a different type of program. I also heard that the public school system in Madison was ranked in the top ten of the country. My daughter is fourteen and is soon going to be driving. She is on the Madison swim team and has made a good group of friends down here. My son is ten. He started gymnastics at age 2 and made the competitive team when he was eight (youngest on the team by 4 years). He was very good. He became tired of ...Expand for more
all the hours at the gym, so tried baseball. In 2008, he tried football. Although weighing less than 70lbs., he became the center and occasionally the noseguard. He was their rookie of the year. He tried baseball again here in Madison and is an amazing base stealer. This fall he's going to try football again. We have two beagle-border collies which amazingly loved the 8 hour car ride from Florissant to Alabama. My wife and I home schooled our children until a few years ago. They now both attend Madison city public schools and are doing well. I dabble in web design and redesigned the internal website for the St. Louis Scheduling department, as well as our high school class reunion a couple years ago. Everyone's friendly down here, but I haven't found any close friends yet. I visit St. Louis about 2 to 3 times a year. School If I knew then what I know now, I would do it over again. Cruising in my aquamarine 73 Mustang (I miss that car.) Senior trip to Daytona Beach (fun time- what I remember of it :^) ) Cast parties after each of the musicals/ plays. Senior year parties Choir and Band trips to the elementary schools. Singing the National Anthem at our Senior Homecoming game. Being allowed to smoke a lit cigar in school on stage during the play "M is for Moon among Other Things" Senior year's Hands across the football field. Trying to kiss through bars in "Anything Goes" "Okay Kellie. Just dance around John" Choreographer's direction during Anything Goes. A group of us going stag to Homecoming one year. College I went to the University of Missouri St. Louis and became a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. I transferred to Lindenwood University to complete my Bachelor of Business Administration. Later, I completed an MBA in Global Information Technology online at the American Intercontinental University. Workplace Just out of college I worked at Boatmen's National Bank. When my wife and I were expecting the birth of our daughter, I started working at McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) and currently work there as an Integrated Schedule Analyst. I make sure that everything on the program stays on schedule and certain tasks are complete so others can begin.
