John's Story
(2020) Having started teaching nearly 48 yrs ago, I sort of retired in 2008 but continued substituting. I finally really retired in 2017. I love teaching as much now as I did when when I started. I have many fond memories from all those years, but decided at 70 it was time for a new phase of life.
My wife and daughters and I moved to Nevada County, CA on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada in 1976. My wife, Carol, died in 1979. I married a widow, Barbara, with 3 daughters in 1980. 50's. We have 10 grandchildren.
In 2017 we moved to northern Idaho (known locally as North Idaho). We love it, and love to have visitors. Best to come between May and October unless you like to ski, then December to March is good. Having lived my whole life in CA, it was so sad to see the state deteriorate politically, economically, and culturally. We are relieved to be gone.
I get back to parts of CA now and then to see my daughters and their families. Would be happy to get together with PV Class of '65 folks or those who were students or staff at Huntington Park from '69 to '73.
