John's Story

Right now I am half-time retired with one year to go on my contract. I am a professor of anthropology at the University of Utah where I started work in 1969. I teach classes in biological anthropology and the evolution of health. I am writing a paper on hemochromatosis, the most common genetic disorder in the world which affects mostly northern Europeans. My wife just had heart surgery after a series of heart attacks and is convalescing well. I have 3 grandchildren, two in the New Haven, Ct area and a granddaughter in Brooklyn, NY. I have three children, one living in North Haven, CT with his wife and son...Expand for more
and daughter and a son and daughter in Brooklyn, NY. My Brooklyn grand-daughter, Beatrix, was born in the middle of the Sandy storm - something that frightened us all. My wife is retiring this year due to health considerations. She is 64 (I am 74) and has taught 6th grade in Utah for over 20 years. Out last bif=g trip was 3 years ago when we attended a scientific conference in montpellier, France, "touristed" in Spain, France and Germany. We loved Barcelona, Carcassone (a Medieval city) and Baden, where Chris' great-great grandfather was born. No plans just now as we readjust to life in the slower lane..
