John's Story

John is from Northport, New York. He is married. His schools include Northport High School, Norwood Avenue Elementary School, Middleville Junior High School. He later attended Stony Brook University (BS in Biology). He works(ed) at McDonald's Corporation. John's interests include Sports, Golf, NHL, New York Rangers, NY Rangers. Music he likes includes America (The Band). Books he likes include I Should Read More. Movies he likes include The Shawshank Redemption, Gladiator, The Green Mile. TV shows he likes include Hawaii Five-O, Blue Bloods, Parenthood, Person of Interest (Wow I watch way too much TV). I now live in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina which is just south of Myrtle Beach. I would come here annually to play golf with a number of my friends and fell in love with the place. Remember Northport back in the 60's and 70's? Well, it's still like that here now. It's got it all, beach, golf, shopping, change in seasons but one thing it doesn't have much of at all is SNOW!! I bought a vacation condo down here an number of years back and in October of 2014 accepted a transfer from work down here and my wife, Lisa and son, Johnny moved down with me after we sold our house on Long Island. We live in the condo which is quite a change but I have to say that not having to physically take care of much i...Expand for more
s a plus. . I only miss the best city in the world at times. Lisa and I love Broadway and the shows. I, of course, left some great friends behind but this was the right move for me and in fact some of my friends are committed to moving here in the future. It is now January 2016 and I have decided to retire and will do so on January 15, 2016 which will be my last day of work. I'm not sure I what I want to do except travel to see the country, my kids and grandchild and other parts of the world and to commit to my health. A bout with Lymphoma and a bad neuro problem has convinced me to do so. I will lose 25 pounds, eat better and live longer to complete my bucket list. My oldest son Ryan and his wife Amanda delivered my first grandson, a boy, Connor Robert in September 2014. So I got my transfer right after that and thus am 800 miles away now. Funny how things happen. I will be trying to get there as often as I can although since I'm still working it is tough. My second son Christopher and his wife Rachel live in Ballston Spa NY near Saratoga and as you can imagine visits are few and far between. I miss them all so much but needed to move here for my health and well-being. Weather (Hot Summers, mild winters and great spring and falls) is great here as are the beaches, the golf, the seafood and all.
