John's Story
Life
I was accepted to Tufts in 1981. For five semesters I made the deanÂs list. I graduated from Tufts in May, 1985 cum laude with a B.A. in English.
Later on, I received an MA in English from Northeastern in 1987 and an MBA from UMASS/Boston in 1991.
Soon after entering Tufts M. Ed. Program in 1986, I began a 13-week student-teacher internship at Lexington High School, 251 Waltham Street, Lexington, MA 02173. I successfully completed the internship, but decided to leave the program because I found the freshman disciple problems intractable. I may be more suited for college instruction or tutoring; I actually tutored students in calculus and biology while attending Tufts.
After a week (January 12-16, 1987 of exhaustive testing and training, I began work as a seasonal data transcriber at the Andover Service Center IRS. In May 1987 I transferred to the Tax Examining Detail within the same organization. Afterwards I relocated to the IRS Automated Collections Systems (ACS) department as an Account Analyst/Tax Examining Clerk at the JFK Building in Boston. Heartily sick of the IRS, I then entered UMass/BostonÂs Co-op Program within the HR/Employee Relations Department of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group until April ...Expand for more
1991.
Upon my mandatory discharge from Liberty Mutual, at length, in order to continue defraying my expenses, I signed with TempXpress Temporaries in January 1992. I stayed with TempXpress until August, 1992, when I earned Employee of the Month honors.
On August 26, 1992 I commenced work at the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority where I am currently the Affirmative Market Officer for the Office of Civil Rights/Engineering Administration. Recently, the Massachusetts Legislature, mainly due to Governor Patrick's exhortations, merged the Turnpike and several other transporation agencies into the gargantuan Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). Only time's passage will reveal whether this elephantine process will proceed smoothly (I doubt it.).
Concurrently, I have also volunteered as a Tufts interviewer of prospective freshmen (currently I am now chairperson of Tufts alumni interviewers) and worked as a Free-lance Translator for Linguistic Systems near Central Square in Cambridge, MA.
On May 22, 2005, I earned my Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School. On November 30, 2006, I passed the Massachusetts Bar. Subsequently, I have proctored several Suffolk University Law School examinations.
