John's Story
Came to Merivale in the fall of 1970, and spent most of my time there in the drama club. I fondly remember my drama teachers Bill "Whipper" Watson, and Karen Linttell (Stobbe).
After Merivale, I took an Honour's degree in History at Carleton University. This, apparently, qualified me to work in a bookstore, where I reached the dizzying height of Assistant Manager.
Later, I returned to Carleton to work first at the theatre's technician, and later as the Assistant Director for Instructional Media Services. I seem to be destined to be the assistant something... ;)
I retired in 2016 after 30+ years there. I have been blessed with a ...Expand for more
wonderful wife, and our daughter Emma, who is in her second year of her MA program. Where does the time fly!
I am actively looking to reacquaint myself with my friends from the Merivale Days. Looking to connect with Bill Watson and Karen Stobbe, as above. Also looking for classmates: Dave Evans, Dave Watson, Syd Gilchrest, Diana Weis and her friend Wendy. (don't remember he last name). If anyone has any tips on how to find these folks, I'd be much obliged.
Also, if anyone has a 1971 yearbook they could loan me, that would be appreciated.
These were happy and busy days. My friends made the drudgery of school so much more bearable!
