John's Story

Life I, John Whitton, was born in 1957 in Glen Cove Hospital, Long Island, New York and grew up in Stony Brook, New York. I am a White Anglo-Saxon protestant of Scottish decent with Episcopalian church denomination. I grew up in a middle class family. I have been a registered Republican Party member for 41 years. My father, named John, was a personnel manager and a teacher and my mother, named Geraldine, was a phone company operator supervisor and a library clerk. I have an older sister Karen, who is a social worker, an older brother Frank, who is a car salesman and a younger sister Madeline, who is a computer programmer. I graduated from Ward Melville High School with honors, as a inducted member of the National Honor Society in May of 1974, attended Stony Brook University and New Paltz College for two years then attended Island Drafting and Technical Institute working in the military defense industry, per contract, for 15 years, on and off, as a drafter and designer with computer-aided software applications to produce hundreds of technical drawings. I have worked in the food service business for 2 years, the hospital business for over 2 years also doing data entry for a human services company part time for 2 3/4 years and am employed in a self-run business for the past 20 years. I continue to give to charities such as Ronalds McDonalds House and the Police Athletic League. My respect for veterans has been shown thru my attendance of military functions preceded by being a Coast Guard Academy candidate in high school during the Vietnam War. tion on my life, can be found on "Linkedin.com", "Facebook" and "MyLife.com". I have lived on Long Island, New York all my life except for one year living in New Paltz, New York and one year living in Lake Worth, Florida visiting sites up and down the east coast of the United States, Bermuda and Canada as a tourist and camper for many years. I am an avid healthy living advocate for myself and others, as a talented rec, league and pickup game basketball player for 11 years and a once devoted jogger and swimmer for 18 years with a 24 year membership to Ballys and LA Fitness gyms since 1990 still able to leg press the stack (312.5 lbs.), seated bench 225 lbs. and seated row 225 lbs. as of April 2011 while attending health fairs across Long Island on a regular basis. I have lived on my own, away from my family for 34 years with no dependents, have dated dozens of women, and now reside in a garden apartment in Bay Shore, Long Island, New York and am single with no children. School Days at Ward Melville H.S. - As a Town and Church League Basketball Phenom with awesome Basketball Rec nights for 5 years and Honor Society Induction, maintaining a 3.59 average for 4 years, it was a good enriching experience. Restaurant/Deli work gave me an advanced maturity. I have no regrets. In college - Majored in Engineering, played Intramural Soccer and Basketball, belonged to The Outing Club, the 100 Mile Club and took up Karate. Worked while in college in a Nursing Home in Port Jefferson, Library Work-Study at Stony Brook University and as a Custodian in an Episcopal Church in New Paltz. My hero was myself!
