John's Story
Life
I have a lot to say about my life post high school.
I went to BYU Hawaii for one year (1993-1994)and decided that regular college wasn't for me. The time in college was a blast and I did make some friends and learn a lot.
I decided to work for Food Land Laie for 18 months(1994-1996). Working there taught me many important people skills. Treat the customers with the respect that they deserve and do the job the best you can.
I went on a mission to Tempe, Arizona spanish speaking from 1996-1998. There, I made many friends including some from Laie and other parts of Hawaii. I did have much success teaching the people and I did develope awesome friendships with them.
I did have some people that were waiting for me to get back to Hawaii to landscape their yards. I started my own landscaping company. I got people's yards back into shape for weddings, and other events.
I decided to give college another chance. That got me to thinking what I really want to do with my life. One year was enough studying for me. It was back to Food Land Laie for another year (1998-1999).
After much thinking, I decided to move to Colorado. I was able to attend WestWood college of Aviation Technology and graduate. I wanted to work on aircraft.
While attending school, I got a job working at Conoco (a gas station). That job lasted two years(2000-2002). I decided to depart from there after a conflict of interest came up.

rted to change. I had a bike accident where I broke my left humerous (the upper part of the arm). Believe me, that wasn't funny. I had many complications from that accident that made it so I couldn't work as a mechanic.
I decided it was time to find a new job after departing from Conoco. I found temporary seasonal employment at Best Buy(a company somewhat like Circuit City) working in the media department. It lasted a short time.
Then, I found better employment working for Home Depot in the Garden and Hardware and Kitchen and Bath (which is part of the Plumbing department) departments. I am a top 5 sales associate out of 140 employees!!! I worked for The Home Depot for 5 1/2 years before being let go. Bad manager at the store caused me problems and bad morale drove me away. While working at Home Depot, I purchased a 2005 Chevy Cobalt, I talking brand new with 33 miles on it.
In 2005 I moved into a place of my own. It is a lot different living by myself with no other people living with me. The timing was right and I am in an area that I like.
I am currently working for JCPenny. Been working in the small appliance and greeting departments at JCPenny for the past several months.
I worked for Dish Network for 5 months before being laid off from them. I worked as a loyalty agent at a phone center. Dish Network treated the agents badly and the turn over rate there is bad.
In the mean time, I am looking to get another full time job.
