I enjoy restoring and riding old motorcycles and my idea of "Zen" is to throw my watch to the ground (perhaps stomping on it a bit) without caring what day it is or where I have to be and touring across country without any clear destination in mind. I'm a Buddhist at heart, so it pains me to say that although I love my work that I work too much and too often "minutes matter" and, at its most extreme, "moments matter." I've been clean and sober for 20 years, so the bar scene doesn't do much for me. I do enjoy listening to live music, however, particularly when I visit my grown-son, Forest, down in New Orleans. At the same time, I'm not a crusader against alcohol so I don't have a problem with others drinking (as long as they're not riding or driving--I teach motorcycle safety courses)!
