REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE Johnathan represented a Russian oil and gas company in one of the first major Chapter 15 cases filed in the United States and participated in helping to dissolve a U.S. Bankruptcy Court injunction which prevented it from selling one of its major assets, a $1.4 billion refinery in Lithuania. Johnathan served as debtor's counsel in a U.S. Chapter 11 case filed by one of Russia's largest oil and gas companies, in one of the largest bankruptcy cases ever filed in the United States. He worked on obtaining a history-making injunction from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court prohibiting certain financial institutions from participating in the Russian Federation's auction of the company's major oil and gas asset. Johnathan has provided counsel regarding bankruptcy matters pending in Argentina, Spain and Mexico. Johnathan served as debtor's counsel for a publicly-traded U.S. steel processing company headquartered in Houston in its successful 11-month Chapter 11 reorganization in which creditors were ultimately paid in full. Johnathan was responsible for handling claims litigation involving over 5,000 claims totaling over $350 million, handling executory contract issues and obtaining court approval for over $150 million in asset sales. Johnathan also served as debtor's counsel for a private biotech company from Houston in their successful 60-day bankruptcy restructure.
