Jon's Story
Life
I am a year-round bicycle commuter, built my own recumbent bicycle (2002), live in the inner-city Central Neighborhood of Minneapolis (since 1991), am married (since 1979) to Jan Roesler, RN, PHN (a public health nurse with Volunteers of America and a community specialist with the University of MinnesotaÂs National Resilience Resource Center), won a Blooming Boulevards award (1997) and Weed and Seed award (2002) for my gardening, have a 22-year old daughter who's a senior (as well as a Presidential Scholar and Morton Honors Scholar) at Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, share our home with two cats, wrote JR's CrockPot CookBook for Harried Fathers (1990), am a past winner of the Mandan Recreational Triathlon (1988, Mandan, North Dakota), have been a Âbig brother to four youth (now men), and am currently a lay pastor.

Workplace
Jon Roesler is Senior Epidemiologist with the Injury and Violence Prevention Unit at the Minnesota Department of Health in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is the principal investigator for three current investigations: Surveillance of Child Maltreatment, Surveillance of TBI Treated in the ER, and Surveillance of Intimate Partner Violence; co-investigator for two investigations: Surveillance of Sexual Violence, and Epidemiology of Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury; team leader for the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Analysis Subunit; and the epidemiologist for the Minnesota Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Registry, the Minnesota CODES, and the Minnesota Trauma Data Bank.
Mr. Roesler has a B.A. degree in Physiology and Psychology, and an M.S. degree in Environmental Health, from the University of Minnesota. He is currently completing his Ph.D. dissertation in Epidemiology at the University of Minnesota. On a more personal note, Mr. Roesler is a year-round bicycle commuter (and helmet advocate!).
