Leaving BL was bittersweet for me. Bitter in that it was my school and I was part of my class for the 5 years I attended and I departed and rather abruptly too! People like John Friedman and Dave Meyers and Randy Mathai and numerous others I lost touch with almost entirely after leaving BL. Bitter also was that in hindsight I think the school was not challenging me as much as it could and I had grown slack in my interest in school and was headed for trouble with my attitude. Sweet is that I did attend McDonogh my senior year and the reasons for it were economic for my parents but the result of it made a huge difference in my life. At the time my dad was paying Graduate tuition at Johns Hopkins for my older brother, Boston University for my older sister, Bryn Mawr for a younger sister, Friends for my other younger sister and 2 tuitions for myself and my younger brother at BL. For the entering class in Fall of 1975 McDonogh went Co-Ed. They also had a bus service and served lunch in the cafeteria every day. To my Parents this looked like heaven because no longer did: 4 kids need to be dropped off or picked up at 3 locations. 20 lunches did not have to be made.
