Jonathan's Story
Life
In July 2007, I started my own Aquaponics and Aquaculture Consulting firm with Pat Mckee, a fellow aquaponics freak. Pat is handling our domestic projects, a training center outside of Daytona Beach, while I am tackling a facility in the Carribean, on the island of Montserrat.
I spend a lot of time teaching people how to raise fish, and traveling from one place to another, convincing people to support our projects
School
I was not a spectacular student, in fact it wasn't untill I got to Graduate level in University that I actually figured out maths. I owe a lot to Father Wightman (yes, he joined the priesthood)and Mr. Sullivan, and I would have never made it through school without the aid of Mr. Glajar.
College
I spent an inordiate ammount of time in college, and have three degrees, mainly because it was...Expand for more
a place to party and I have a weakness for members of the opposite sex easily impressed by men who aren't idiots. Best School was University of Victoria at Wellington, where I went to grad school. New Zealand rocks, and I'm not saying that because I am a geophysicist.
In 2007 I attended University of the Virgin Islands Aquaponics Short course and met fellow fish and plant enthuthiasts from around the world (including Antarctica)
Now, I am doing Consulting work for the Montserrat University of Science and Technology. I keep trying to leave school and they keep pulling me back.
Workplace
I've done everything from dog breeder to riverguide, teacher, engineer. I am currently Manager at a non profit which teaches people in the 3rd world how to build fish farms. I get to travel a lot, plus the work is very rewarding.
