Jonathan's Story

June-08 UPDATE - Back in the States, current assignment is in New York, living on Long Island...trying like hell to get back on an Intl assignment. I could be heading to Dubai for a nice long gig departing in July...will know more in a month or so...crossing my fingers:) Jan-07 UPDATE: Just accepted a 2 year assignemnt in Bulgaria with Bechtel to manage the build for a nationwide GSM network for Vivatel. I will post some photos when I get there...what an adventure its going to be! Life since high school bio, eh? Well, lets see...Went to CMSU fo a couple of years, then back to STL. Wanted to do something more exciting and took a job building communication towers, cellular and microwave systems back in 93' or so. Worked all over the lower 48 states and saw it all. Found home in Portland OR in 93' after seeing the Dead shows in Eugene (the NW has to be the best kept secret out there; same thing applies for The Grateful Dead, if you're keen on that:). ' by taking a local tower job in Portland which ended up taking me to Seattle for a time,then back to Portland in 99'. Then went to STL and started a company in the industry. 9/11 put the brakes on the telecommunications construction world for a while, so I relocated back to Portland in '02 to go back to climbing (there was'nt much else out there as far as work in the industry). That was short lived as I went to work for Bechtel as a project manager the very next year. Bechtel does all kinds of things...like building Houver Dam, BART and power plants. There is a telecoms division as well. I've worked several markets for Bechtel in the last few years. East and West coast, and worked been in southern CA for about 4 years. The NW will always be home, love it there..much to do and see. I recommend a visit for the flat lander Missourians who have never been:) Life is good.
